Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a video Monday that Instagram will begin testing non-fungible token (NFT) integrations this week.
CoinDesk first reported the news on May 7, with the selected blockchains being Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and Flow. Zuckerberg did not provide details on which blockchains will be supported.
"We're starting to build for NFTs, not just in our Metaverse and Reality Labs work, but across our entire family of apps," Zuckerberg said in the video. "We'll be bringing similar capabilities to Facebook soon."
The company says it is also working on three-dimensional, augmented reality NFTs using its Spark AR software, which will initially be compatible with Instagram Stories.
