For your information, you can find below the description of the video "Law & Order" Debuts on TV | On This Day published by the Youtube channel Bloomberg Television:
On this day, September 30th, 1990, one of the most prolific shows on television debuted Dick Wolf's Law and Order, a standard police procedural that was anything but standard, an hour long show split into 30 minute halves. One focused on the police investigating the crime, and the second focused on the district attorney who prosecutes the offenders. It was a deliberate split intended to make sure the show could have a life in syndication at a time when reruns were largely bought in 30 minute increments.
