Torrential rains hit the New York tristate area causing flash flooding and power outages. Rains washed out roads and trapped people in Connecticut. Some roads looked like rivers in New Jersey. The storm also caused delays on commuter railroads and at area airports. The National Weather Service says the flooding was unrelated to Hurricane Ernesto which moved out to the open Atlantic Ocean.
