As a guest on Matt J. Moore podcast, Mark Yusko gave his take on what's going on in the current market. The Federal Reserve has been hiking rates to tame inflation. Surging prices for gas, food and rent catapulted U.S. inflation to a new four-decade peak in June of 2022, further pressuring households and likely sealing the case for another large interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve, with higher borrowing costs to follow.
Consumer prices soared 9.1 percent compared with a year earlier in 2021 and was the biggest 12-month increase since 1981. The Federal Reserve has hiked rates to tame inflation, but investor Mark Yusko took a contrarian view and states that he doesn’t believe we are not in an inflationary environment. From Mark’s view, inflation occurs when the demand and supply of a good or service is out of whack. If there is more demand than supply, then the price will increase. But in the inflationary environment that has been created, Mark believes it has nothing to do with the fundamentals of the economy, but everything to do with the weakening of the dollar. For this reason, Mark believes being in hard assets such as Bitcoin and Gold is a no-brainer.
