But whether you love him or hate him, Kevin is not shying away from his failed endorsement and investment in FTX and Sam Bankman-Fried. In an interview with CryptoBanter, Kevin disclosed that he now has found a new place to park his crypto investments, which he believes is the only safe place in the world for those who cannot use cold storage. But one of the more peculiar parts of the interview occurred when Kevin was asked about Sam Bankman-Fried, from a personal level. Kevin was asked whether he had any resentment toward SBF and whether he would invest in him again.
In the last few days, Bankman-Fried has displayed very questionable behavior; from outright lying to customers about liquidity, suggesting assets were “fine”, and playing cryptic twitter games, to the legality of it all, where he is alleged to be in the middle of what might be, numerically speaking at least, one of the most fraudulent acts in financial history. Yes, we have to let all the cards play out and if there are any legal ramifications, he gets his day in court. But this whole debacle has left a very bad taste in everyone’s mouth, reminding the public of high-level swindlers like Bernie Madoff, The Wolf of Wall Street’s Jordan Belfort, and Theranos’ Elizabeth Holmes, who left many people in financial ruin. Yet, O’Leary sees the “1% genius” side of Bankman-Fried and gave a surprising response.
