Bringing in the new year, the co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, stormed his Twitter handle with 26 consecutive posts on Ethereum on January 2nd, 2022. Quoting tweets and articles of the past by Buterin himself, the gist of the tweetstorm seemed more of a confession, realization, and correction in terms of forecasts and strategies adopted in the early years of Bitcoin and Ethereum. The 27-year old entrepreneur wished all of his followers a happy new year, followed by, "Today, a mini-tweetstorm of some of the things I've said and written over the past decade, and what I think about those subjects today."
Buterin's thoughts on the vitality of Bitcoin presented itself in his consecutive post where he stated that the core benefit of Bitcoin is not the 21 million limit, but it's the transparency which he termed as censorship resistance and internationality. It's the way in which Bitcoin can help low-income countries such as Iran and Argentina move into prosperity and abundance. And needless to say, his recent visit to Argentina confirmed his prediction as we now know that Argentina ranks ninth in the adoption of cryptocurrencies according to Chainalysis.
Buterin goes on further to mention that people in moderate and low-economy nations are also pursuing stablecoins, which he'd predicted much earlier than the inception of stablecoins.
His next tweet highlights his past and present thoughts on Bitcoin operations. His post read, "Bitcoin is resisting the government not by being clever about what *legal category* it's in, but rather by being technologically censorship-proof.
My views today: sure, Bitcoin's decentralization would let it still *survive* under a super-hostile regulatory climate, but it could not *thrive*. Successful censorship resistance strategy requires a combination of technological robustness and public legitimacy."
