Bitcoin was the major news in the past week, as it passed $30k for the first time since June of 2022. Although Bitcoin has since dipped to the $28,000 range at the time of writing, Bitcoin’s surge was enough to take the failed banking situations out of the headlines. Even though they are out of the headlines, there still seems to be major underlying issues that have not yet reared its ugly head. In an interview with Keith McCullough on Hedgeye, macro investor Lynn Alden gave her take on what’s really happening with the banking system and how the average investor can protect themselves. Lynn believes the Federal reserve is running at a loss, which isn’t too much of an issue for them, as they can print their way out of almost any situation… but the trickle effect of their action will be seen in the regional banking sector (which we already saw), the commercial real estate market and the automotive industry (just to name a few) is just getting started. Alden believes, however, that Bitcoin (not just any crypto) can be a safe option to protect against what’s going on with the federal reserve. In her observation for all cryptos, Lynn expressed her concern about being a commodity and the uncertain rules for the other crypto. Alden also gave her take on when she believes is the best time to buy bitcoin.
